Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we are going to talk about how to remove seeds from sunflowers. Sunflowers are such a joy in the garden and in the Fall or the late Summer they start dropping or they start drying out. So the best time to harvest the seeds and store them or use them is right to the point where they are almost breaking apart from the plant so you'll see all the seeds and if you barely tape it they almost are falling out. You don't want to pull them out, they have to be to the point where they're actually falling out themselves. You can also take them as soon as they start getting just a little bit brown and hang them upside down and put a nylon or a bag over them or any type of material, put a rubber band around it and then as they drop the seeds it will drop right into that bag and then you dry the seeds and they are pretty much dry at that point and then you save them and use them again next year or bake them and use them to eat over the Winter but sunflowers are easy to grow and it is easy to save the flowers and the seeds.
