HI, I'm Rachel Yatuzis, and I'm going to show you how to preserve your copper. First off, you want to clean it. The reason that copper does oxidize, or get those nasty green and blue spots, is because exposure to sunlight, or moist areas, will tarnish it a little bit, so in order to clean it, you want to make a mixture that's two thirds lemon juice,and one third salt. If you just dip any rag that you have around the house, in that mixture, and a plopper, it will shine up really, really nicely. If that doesn't work as well as you were expecting, try replacing the lemon juice with vinegar, and that works excellent. It works great for pennies, if you have old pennies that you want to restore, or anything that's copper. If you have small details, like the edges around this copper piece, you want to get ketchup. Get a Q-tip, get a little bit of ketchup on the Q-tip, and use this to do your detailing. Just go around all the little grooves, and crevices, apply the ketchup, and let it sit until the ketchup dries. After the ketchup is dry, you can either rinse it off, or just get a wet rag again, and wipe it clean. Ketchup is an excellent metal cleaner, for any kind of metal.
