Hi, my name is Wes on behalf of Expert Village.com and in this video segment I am going to talk to you about what kind of plants to select when planting your terrarium. If you want to know more about tropical plants and carnivorous plants you can visit us at equilibriocarnivorousplants.com. Now choosing the right type of plants is one of the most important yet time consuming aspects of setting up your terrarium. You really want to take the time to do the research to find out the most about the kind of plants that you want to plant inside of a terrarium. Some things to consider are the type of growing conditions you need. You want to choose plants that all have very similar growing conditions in terms of water, soil requirements and light requirements. If you choose plants that have dramatically different growing requirements, some of your plants are going to die and some of your plants are going to thrive. Another thing to consider is the maximum size of the plants that you are going to put inside of the terrarium. Some plants like this may start off small and you may think that they are perfect for putting inside of a terrarium but they could grow as large as this nepenthes right here. You can see obviously that this would be a bad choice for putting inside a terrarium this size because the plant would just completely outgrow it in a few years. Now the plants that we have selected for going inside of this terrarium are right here. We selected these plants for the variety and size but also for the variety of color and shape. You want to have a lot of different varieties inside of your terrarium to make it interesting to look at and also to make it interesting to talk about as well. Other types of plants you can put inside of your terrarium are things like mosses or other ground covers that will take up extra space and provide good visual affects. There are certainly other types of plants that you can use inside of a terrarium but in this particular terrarium we decided to use the tropical picture plants.
