Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen from vanveenbulbs.com. And in this segment we're going to learn all about what is flower therapy? Now everybody that has a garden or has walked into a garden know the feeling that you get when you are around flowers. They're just so beautiful and the scents and the fragrances, and the colors they all make you feel really happy and good inside. But doctors are also realizing that flower therapy is as good for you as physical therapy is. There's many reasons that this is true. And the number one reason that flower therapy is so successful is not only because of the scents and the smell, and the energy that flowers give you. It's just being out in the sun is the best thing that you can do for your body. And they're realizing yes if you spend 10 hours a day in the sun it's not good for you because you can get skin cancer. But people that don't spend anytime in the sun at all lack in vitamin D. And if you break a bone or if you're elderly or even for young kids vitamin D is the most important thing that you can have in your body. For, so that the calcium get be absorbed into your bones. So if you break your arm and you go to physical therapy and its inside all the time they're realizing that you're not going to get as healthy half as quickly as if you're out in the garden working. Instead working with a therapist, work with flowers because you're outside getting vitamin D which is making your muscles and your bones grow which will make you healthier. And gardening itself is so healthy because you're using all the bones and all the muscles in your body that you don't use everyday. And just the act of digging and hoeing, and pulling up weeds, and pulling a wheelbarrow, and all of the parts of gardening are really really healthy for you. And it's just like having a pet in your life. Before Dexter came into my life, we didn't have a pet for a while and I was really missing that. And pets too they're finding along with flower therapy are the two most important factors in someone’s life to make them have a healthier happier life. Flower therapy, now they're finding is so important with Alzheimers patients because just the act of walking around flowers, it sparks their memories, it sparks their brains. The smells, the thoughts, the memories. It makes them remember everything and they've done lots of studies. They've taking some elderly people that can't even remember how to tie their shoe and after an afternoon in the garden it's like their come home and they remember everything that they have forgotten. And they just come back with a better attitude and they are using every part of their brain because it's not just the view, it's not just the look, it's not the fragrances, it's when you remember back to when you were 6 years old at grandma’s house. Whether you're 95, 18 or 25 it's something that makes you happy and it is therapy. And whether you need therapy or not flower therapy is really important and it's such a beautiful part of my life. And I hope that you remember the next time you walk into the grocery store how important it is just to have a bouquet of flowers in the house. If not for you, do it for your family because it will make it a much happier place.
