Hello! My name is Reggie Whitehead. Today I am going to be speaking with you about growing tropical ferns courtesy of the Tropical Fern Exotic Plant Society and on behalf of expertvillage.com. Now you are looking at this strange plant and wondering how can you be talking about ferns. That is the most unfern like plant that I have ever seen. However, it is a true fern. I particularly like oddball ferns as you may have guessed from my collection of plants. This one is called the ribbon fern and that is a nice common name for it because it looks like a ribbon. It should not be confused with this type of ribbon fern which is actually called a strap fern. The interesting thing about this species is that this fern's species we talked about where ferns are located. The ferns are located in this rattle snack like apparatus here. It grows away from it. What happens with this plant is that after a while the spores in here will knock this one because I just pulled this one off and it is going to cease to exist but this plant will turn yellow and the spores will be released when and in order to grow.
