Hi I am Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb, for On Gardening. One element that we have to have is Manganese, Manganese Sulfate. Now you normally get that in most of your fertilizers but there is a good chance that maybe you don't. If you look at just a regular bag of fertilizer you will see it will have NPNK, let's say a 6-6-6. It may not have additional Manganese in there. This is especially important if you are growing palms and many other plants. Manganese can be applied separately as we have here Manganese Sulfate. If you have got a palm tree in the top of your palm and the new growth is coming out in kind of a light yellow you probably are into a Manganese deficiency. In fact in some palms we call it frizzle top because the new frauns will come out and they will start to get very crinkly and that is Manganese deficiency. Frizzle top and Manganese deficiency are one in the same. Manganese can be applied around your plant, remember to apply it in the root of the area and remember to take a watering can and water it in. Almost all elements have to be watered in to be their most effective. Manganese Sulfate can make you a better gardener. For On Gardening, I am Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb.
