Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about how to keep gophers out of a garden. Now gophers are much larger than moles and they burrow under the ground and they will eat every bulb or any type of plant that you have in it's way. The only way to keep them out of your yard is to make sure that you don't have anything in your yard that they want that they can access. And really if you have gophers that means you have really good organic soil and they're burrowing. They're a natural burr and they will make lots of air in your soil and it's actually almost a good thing. But you don't want them in your flowerbeds because they will devour all of your flower bulbs. So you always want to set barriers. So put cloth underneath your flowerbeds and make sure to make raises beds so that the gophers cannot get to your plants. And I have found by setting barriers to them and making sure that they won't bother you, then they won't be the problem that they were before and eventually they will leave your yard alone and go to the neighbors yard because you have nothing for them to eat. So it's actually your job to make barriers for them and if you have plants that they will eat, make sure that you put cloth down so that they can't get through the cloth to your garden plants. And then that way they won't come over to your smorgasbord, they'll just go over to the neighbor's.
