Different Types of Mulch

There are many different types of mulch that can be used in the garden. Everything from a wood mulch, like this pine bark mulch. Pine bark can come in everything from this very fine texture to very large chips. And, all work equally well in the garden. You can also use something like this pine straw. The great thing about pine straw is that it's actually a renewable resource and it's just harvested off the ground from underneath the trees. So, no trees are harmed in the making of this mulch. This is a great mulch to use. It's very easy to spread. It turns kind of a nice silvery color. You can also use hardwood mulches. Which, are usually chipped up parts of the entire tree rather than just being the bark like pine bark fines. And, some places stone is very popular to use as a mulch. I actually prefer to use an organic mulch, such as the pine bark or the pine straw. Because, as they break down they begin to add nutrients back into soil.
