Affected Plants:
Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants.
Damage:
Chews leaves and terminal growth.
Predator Insects:
Ladybugs, Bacillus thuringiensis, Beneficial nematodes.
Natural Insecticides:
rotenone and pyrethrum, sabadilla.
Other Methods of Control:
- Hand pick beetles and larvae, and remove orange egg sacks from the undersides of leaves.
- Spray with basil tea.
- Plant resistant varieties.
- Place clean straw mulch around plants so beetles can't climb stems.
- Use row covers.
