Buttermilk Scones
Buttermilk Scones
1 lb flour
1 tsp. bicarbonate of soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 oz shortening
3/4 cup sour milk or buttermilk
Sift the flour, soda and salt together. Add the shortening. Beat egg slightly, add milk, add to first mixture. Roll out about 1/2 inch thick, | cut with fluted cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 450 to 475 degree oven for about 15 minutes.
