Impatiens - Garden Basics - Flower - Annual
(Impatiens walleriana)
This
half hardy annual is a standard for summer shade gardens. The
thick, decorative foliage is covered with a profusion of blooms.
Flowers come in a wide range of bright colors. Impatiens enjoy
infrequent feeding with a balanced fertilizer.
Let the soil dry out just a bit between waterings to encourage
compact growth and profuse flowering. Start seeds indoors six
to eight weeks before the last frost. The plant makes an attractive
hanging basket.
