I didn't see the need to copy my blog entry here, so please check out my blog entry "Time Flies, but my greenhouse is already up this year!" Comments are welcome. I'm going try expanding it to cover both beds the long way, end to end. That way I'll still… More
I recently bought some flower seeds: Gaillardia, White Knights, Dianthus, Echinacea,Painted Daisy mix and some Dragonfly hybrids......Any comments on the best type of soil to use, I want to be a little more aware than I was with the vegetables instead jumping in head first with no advice. More
For those of you in northern latitudes now is the very BEST time to fertilize your lawn. The nitrogen content of the product/appliction needs to be lower and the phosphorus/potassium analysis should be higher. You want to develop a healthy, expanding root system at this time of year. More
Anyone have any of this very attractive, sort of succulent, blue-flowered groundcover in the southeast?? We're reducing our lawn (useless monoculture) and expanding our beds, trying to incorporate native plants, although I do not think this IS a native, but at least it's not invasive). This looks appealing to me… More

I just recently found this forum and a very nice one it is. I've been member and even manager of garden groups, but for whatever reason, they became rather dead. I've really missed lively garden chat. I'm a Michigan transplant. I moved to TN in 2004 after retiring. I couldn't… More
I'm buying a new house and will have 1.5 acre of field to "play with". So I'm thinking of not just expanding my previous veggie garden attempts and creating the berry patch of my dreams. But also trying herb gardening for the first time. So I have several questions I… More
I started this plant last year from seeds--they came up and looked like little skinny trees--as they grew they started expanding and adding on and getting bushier--at the end of the summer (late) they got some very small light purple flowers on the very ends--I had kept the packets to… More
(shy) Hi! I'm Sumiko, and I am discovering that I do *not* in fact hate gardening. I've taken care of the roses on my family's property for a few years, now, but I'm interested in expanding into new territories. Particularly tropical and/or rare/unusual plants. I'm actually gearing up for my… More
 I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place... I have a very small vegetable garden in my backyard. I plan on expanding it this year; however, I just discovered that our cats are using this area (the only area I can use for expansion) as a… More
