While some natural grass lawns never need feeding, stressed and yellowing grass benefits from light applications of high-nitrogen fertilizer. Buy either a commercially prepared high-nitrogen blend, or mix nitrogen-rich blood meal, cottonseed meal or fish meal with smaller amounts of bone meal for phosphorous and wood ash or greensand for potassium.
