Prevention is key to controlling diseases and insect infestations affecting oak trees. Remove all infected trees and logs, avoid wounding the bark while pruning oaks and give the trees plenty of sunlight and air circulation. Ask your extension service about fungicides; these do not treat oak tree diseases, but can prevent some of them.
