For newly cleared land, Bermuda grass is the best choice in southern Tennessee. It is relatively inexpensive, easy to sow and spreads rapidly to protect exposed soil. In northern areas, Perennial Ryegrass is a cool season grass that is fairly aggressive and covers quickly.
