Dandelions are hardy and don't need fertilizer. Those growing them for consumption can use any potassium fertilizer, which increases dandelion growth by 2,000 percent, according to the Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides. If you're trying to control dandelions, fertilize with a product containing dandelion control herbicides.
