Cut fruit right when it approaches ripeness, as overripe fruit will not last long once placed on the fruit tray. For best results, use a chilled tray and choose fruits that do not turn brown when cut. If you do use such fruit, such as pears and apples, cut them right before serving to preserve your fruit tray's appearance.
