Snowcap shasta daisy is a dwarf cultivar belonging to the aster family. Snowcap blooms from early summer through fall, grows to just over 1 foot in height at maturity and produces blooms with a diameter of up to 4 inches at full bloom. They should be fed a combination of organic and chemical fertilizers over moist soil for optimal growth and bloom performance.
Fertilize around the base of the shrub according to the dosing directions on the label. Make two applications each year, with the first in spring after the ground has thawed and again in mid-summer to boost and extend bloom.
Amend the planting soil around your daisies with ground lime if your soil is acidic. Mix the lime into the planting soil in new plantings, or top-dress established plants and scratch the powder into the soil surface and water in well.
Mulch around the base with the manure and/or compost. Lay down a layer at least 2 inches thick. The mulch will break down into its elemental parts and fertilize the soil, as well as hold moisture in and keep weeds at bay.
Water your daisies deeply after fertilizing or amending the soil, and maintain evenly moist to wet soil throughout the growing season.
