Only use lime labeled "horticultural lime" (calcium or magnesium carbonate) or "gypsum" (calcium sulphate) in your garden. The products known as "quicklime" (calcium oxide) or "slaked lime" (calcium hydroxide) are quite caustic and can be dangerous to humans and animals.
