Orchids are a type of monopodial (central stem structure growing from tip) or sympodial (grow off rhizomes) tropical plant. Most orchids are perennial epiphytes, meaning they grow on trees and shrubs.
Jennifer Loucks has been writing since 1998. She previously worked as a technical writer for a software development company, creating software documentation, help documents and training curriculum.
