Is it Better for a Potato to be Grown in Clay or Potting Soil?

Potatoes can grow in a variety of soils, but pure clay soil may be too heavy and potting soil too light. Potatoes prefer a well-drained sandy loam soil, which can be achieved by mixing clay soil and sand together.
