Garden Decor Fact Sheet

Overview

While shrubs, perennials and bulbs form the primary focus of your garden, garden decor can add a touch of personality and functionality to your landscaping plans. When choosing a garden accent, keep your overall design theme in mind.

Arbors and Trellises

Crafted of copper or wood, arbors and trellises provide structure for clinging vines, shade and visual interest in the garden. An arbor usually has three sides; a trellis is flat. Either can be freestanding or attached to a separate structure such as a house or fence.

Wind Chimes

Wind chimes come in a variety of resonant materials including metal, wood and glass. Remnants of wind chimes have been found at archaeological digs dating back 3,000 years.

Statuary

Perhaps the widest range of garden decor can be found in this category. Ranging from small accents to massive sculptures, your choices are limited only by space and budget.

Bird Feeders

According to the Audubon Society, more than 100 different bird species supplement their diet at bird feeders. Year-round feeding is safe for birds.

Armillaries and Sundials

Before clocks, mankind used armillaries and sundials. Today's versions are decorative, sculptural and, if correctly sited, quite accurate.
