Wax begonias are tender perennials that are usually categorized as annuals in cool climates. With continuous blooms from spring to fall, it is a gardening favorite in any zone.
White, pinks, and red small flowers on waxy red or green stems, begonias make excellent filler flowers near borders and pots.
Wax begonias prefer part shade but will grow well in full sun if kept moist. Plants in deep shade will grow well but not bloom consistently.
Like most summer annuals, wax begonias thrive in well-draining, fertilized soil.
Wax begonias are an excellent beginner flower that takes no special upkeep for regular continuous blooming.
Wax begonias will continue to bloom if brought inside before the first frost for the winter.
