Creative Garden Ideas

Gardens can create a bold and dramatic focal point to your landscape and provide a home for wildlife, including birds and butterflies. Creating a pathway through your garden will invite you in for evening strolls and create a spot to sit when planting new flowers. Adding an herb garden to your yard will create a beautiful space for growing your favorite spices. In and around your herb garden, you can add solar lights for a warm glow.

Garden Path

Create a pathway using slate to lead you to your garden space. Lay the stones every foot to create an inviting pathway to meander along. In between each stone, plant ground cover. Creeping jasmine or blue star creeper will provide a bold and dramatic design in between the slate and down the path. For an added design, plant colorful flowers along the path as a makeshift border.

Edible Garden

Create an edible garden for growing your own vegetables while creating a colorful focal point. Plant tomatoes and zucchini for making soups and breads. Sweet pea and lima bean vines will add height in the back of the garden bed while producing delicious veggies. Edible gardens can also add charm to an existing garden. Plant the vegetables in between a set of blooming bushes or dwarf evergreen tree. Use containers and planters for growing cucumbers, which will spill out of the pots and into the garden space.

Water features create a soothing sound in your garden without taking up a lot of space. You can create your own fountain using an old birdbath, making this an affordable project. The main items are the pump and container to hold the water. Add water and a few colorful water plants and you have a beautiful garden fountain. When the fountain is running, the water will attract birds and butterflies.
