Muskmelon Hale's Best Jumbo - Seeds & Bulbs

Talk to old timers and they still swear by Hale's Best. Very thick, sweet flesh and a small seed cavity make this a top choice. Grows and stays sweet in a wide variety of conditions, particularly drought. DO NOT PLANT NEAR CUCUMBERS!

When to Sow Outside: Spring, a week or two after last average frost date, and after nights are no longer cool.
When to Sow Inside: Recommended for cool climates. Start seeds 4 to 6 weeks before last frost. Seedlings don't transplant well, so use paper or peat pots.
Seed Depth: 1/2"
Seed Spacing: 2 seeds per hill
Row Spacing: 4' to 6'
Days to Emerge: 5 to 10 days
Thinning: 1 seed per hill
