Mizuna Mustard
Sui Cai, Xiu CAI
(Brassica rapa)
Commonly used both as a graceful bedding plant that 'floats' in the flower beds and as a sweet, mild mustard green that is ready to harvest in 3 weeks and will withstand heat longer than lettuce without bolting. The looks are deceptive: Beautiful, graceful, and prolific, but definitely tasty. Plants germinate under cold and wet spring conditions
Plant Type: Perennial
When to Sow Outside: Even though it's a cool-weather plant, seeds will germinate best if you wait until after the last frost to sow. Can also be planted in early fall.
When to Sow Inside: Not Recommended
Seed Depth: 1/8"
Seed Spacing: 1/2"
Days to Emerge: 5 to 15
Thinning: When plants have two leaves, thin to 2" apart.
