This charming cool-weather plant grows in all parts of north America. It prefers a rich, well-drained soil. Flowers are edible and used by herbalists for medicinal purposes.
In Warm Climates:
Plant in late summer for fall, winter and spring blooms.
In Cold Climates:
Plant in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked, for fall and late winter blooms. Plants will overwinter and bloom again in spring in climates as cold as USDA zone 4.
NOTE: Seeds need darkness to germinate so make sure they are covered with soil.
