Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Add 6 tablespoons of sugar, the salt, melted shortening, and egg. Add raisins, orange peel, and flour, beating thoroughly after each addition until a soft dough is formed. (The dough should be softer than for bread). Cover with a warm, damp cloth; allow to double in bulk. Work down and form in two loaves. Place in well-oiled pans. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons sugar. Allow to double in bulk. Bake in hot oven (425 F) 30 minutes. 2 small loaves.
