Pear Pie Recipe


A very simple yet elegent fruit pie. Apples could be easily substituted for the pears.

Step 1

In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice and peel and coriander.

Step 2

Add pears and toss.

Step 3

Spoon into pie shell.

Step 4

In a bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, mace, and remaining sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 5

Sprinkle over pears. Bake at 400 for 45 minutes or until pears are tender.

Step 6

Serve warm or cold with ice cream if desired.

Things You'll Need

  • 1cup Sugar, divided
  • 2tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2tsp Lemon peel, grated
  • 1/4tsp Ground coriander
  • 6cups pears, (ripe) peeled and sliced
  • 1each pastry shell (9 inches), unbaked
  • 1/2cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4tsp Ground mace
  • 1/3cup Butter or margarine
  • Vanilla ice cream, (optional)
