Gingerbread Recipe

Step 1

Combine eggs, sugar, shortening, and molasses. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, salt, and spices. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Beat until well blended. If desired 1 cup chopped raisins may be added to batter. Pour into well-oiled pan. Bake in moderate oven (375 F) about 40-45 minutes. The loaf may be sliced in 2 layers, and marshmallows placed close together between the layers. Cut in squares and garnish with whipped cream. (Soy bean or lima bean flour may be substituted for 1 cup of the white flour. )
