Apple-Raisin Bread with Orange Glaze Recipe

A step away from plain raisin bread, a good recipe is made great with a tasty orange glaze.

Step 1

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 9x5-inch loaf pan. In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in apples and raisins.

Step 2

In small bowl, whisk together milk, butter and egg until smooth. Add to dry ingredients; stir until well blended. Pour into pan.

Step 3

Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 20 minutes.

Step 4

Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir together all glaze ingredients until smooth.

Step 5

With long wooden skewer, poke holes in bread. Brush glaze over bread until absorbed. Cool completely.

PER SLICE: 210 calories, 2.5 g total fat (1.5 g saturated fat), 3.5 g protein, 45 g carbohydrate, 20 mg cholesterol, 180 mg sodium, 1.5 g fiber

  • 1cup finely chopped apples
  • 1 1/2cups raisins
  • 1cup milk
  • 2tbsp butter, melted

  • 1/4cup orange juice
  • 2tbsp light corn syrup
  • 1/3cup powdered sugar
