There is a tomato tree. The tree is brittle and reaches 10 to 18 feet in height. The fruits are no more than 4 inches long, 2 inches wide and pointy on both ends. The tough outside skin may be deep purple, dark red, orange or yellow, and may have a striped appearance. The pulp tastes mildly sweet, bland and underripe.
