What you eat has a positive or negative influence on your health. The secret to healthy eating is to eat a healthy diet in moderation. Certain foods help regulate your digestive system and keep your body vitamin-fortified with strength. These vitamin-rich, fiber-filled, antioxidant foods are called “superfoods.” Keep your body healthier and stronger by making sure you get enough of these superfoods in your meals each day.
Include all members of the four basic food groups--dairy, vegetables and fruit, protein and grains--to begin your healthy regimen. Use low-fat diary, green leafy vegetables and lean meats and fish in your meals. Include berries in your desserts and breakfast menus.
Place green leafy vegetables like broccoli florets in your salad, which carry beta-carotene, fiber and vitamin C. Add beans and legumes to your salad for a different taste appeal. Top the salad with nuts and seeds for a flavorful, crunchy taste that adds fiber, minerals and vitamins to your meal.
Puree some tomatoes, which have lycopene, then add more vegetables and spice, just the way you like it. Choose sweet potatoes laced with orange juice to get a full-flavored meal and take in vitamins C and A, some beta-carotene, fiber and potassium. To get omega-3 fatty acids and unsaturated fats into your meals, eat salmon, trout and tuna.
Include side dishes like brown rice, wheat breads and cereals, which carry bran fiber and help your digestive system to work smoothly. Put fresh blueberries, strawberries or blackberries in your pancakes, smoothie drinks and desserts for a burst of vitamins A and C, fiber, potassium and antioxidants.
Rid your body of waste by replenishing your body fluids with a daily intake of fresh water. You should eat all these superfoods slowly and in moderation; this keeps your system unclogged. If you need a snack, try savoring another superfood of dark chocolate, which is packed with antioxidants and helps rid the body of toxins while lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.
