Creating and eating low fat meals are very easy to do. Just because a meal is low in fat does not mean it should be low on taste. Making low fat hambugers can actually be a healthy meal choice if done correctly. Choose ground beef. When purchasing ground beef, choose a lean cut of meat. To choose beef, the redder the meat appears, the leaner it is. An 80/20 ratio on the ground beef label means that it contains only 20 percent fat.
Prepare meat. Place lean ground beef into a large mixing bowl. Add to the meat your choice of liquid smoke, Italian dressing or Teriyaki sauce. Mix well and form into thick patties. Salt and pepper both sides of burgers.
Cook meat. Grill hamburgers on an outdoor grill, an indoor grill or a stove top grill pan. There will be very little grease draining from the lean patties, so watch them carefully to prevent sticking or burning.
