How to Make a Candy Santa Tractor

How to Make a Candy Santa Tractor

This candy Santa tractor is an adorable gift or favor for a child's Christmas gathering or party. The tractor is easily constructed with an assortment of candies and hot glue. It will last a very long time, as long as you can refrain from eating it. Although simple to make, this craft is not recommended for young children because of the hot glue gun involved. Older children and teenagers should be able to handle a glue gun with adult supervision.

Instructions

Step 1

Place the five-stick gum package flat on the table.

Step 2

Apply hot glue to the back of one miniature Hershey's chocolate bar. Press the back of a matching Hershey's miniature chocolate into the hot glue. Allow the glue to cool.

Step 3

Apply hot glue to one long seam side of the glued together Hershey's miniature chocolates and attach lengthwise on an end, top of the five stick gum package, for the candy Santa tractor engine.

Step 4

Apply hot glue to the back of the Hershey's Nugget. Place it lengthwise on the opposite end of the five-stick gum package, forming the tractor seat. Allow the glue to cool.

Step 5

Tip the assembled seat and engine of the candy Santa tractor on its side. Apply hot glue to the side of the five-stick gum package, just below the Hershey's Nugget seat. Place a York peppermint patty into the hot glue. Match the patty edge even with the top edge of the gum package and the back edge of the gum package. Allow the glue to cool.

Step 6

Turn the tractor body over and repeat Step 5 for the opposite back tire.

Step 7

Hot glue the handle part of the red and white peppermint candy wrappers to one side of the peppermints. Allow the hot glue to cool. Apply hot glue to the back of the peppermints and press together. Allow the glue to cool.

Step 8

Apply hot glue to the front, bottom of the five stick gum package and press the seams of the glued peppermints into the glue for the tractors front tires. Allow the glue to cool.

Step 9

Apply a dot of hot glue to the seam between the Hershey's Nugget seat and the Hershey bar engine. Place the point of the Hershey's Kiss into the glue for the steering wheel. Allow the glue to cool.

Step 10

Apply hot glue to the feet end of the chocolate Santa and place him on the tractor seat. Allow the glue to cool.

Tips and Warnings

Certain styles and types of tractors can be made by choosing appropriate colors of candy wrappers. Using the list of candies as a guide only, you may find other candies that will work just as well at a less expensive price.
