Infrared ovens are fast-cooking, energy-efficient appliances that use infrared heat to cook the food from the outside in. Unlike a microwave where food cooks from the inside out, you are less likely to dry food out when using an infrared oven. Cooking rice in the infrared oven is easy.
Wash your rice, rinsing it thoroughly before cooking.
Measure the rice you will cook and place it in the oven-safe bowl.
Add water to the bowl. If you want plain rice, use a two to one ratio of water to rice. If you want your rice sticky (Japanese style), use a 2.5 to one ratio of water to rice.
Place the bowl in the center of the infrared oven.
Turn the oven on to medium heat.
Give the rice six to 10 minutes to cook, depending on the amount of rice you are cooking and the type of infrared oven you are using. Your rice will cook faster in this type of oven, so watch it carefully so your rice turns out as you like it.
