How to Make Your Own Swedish Bitters


Swedish bitter is an herbal drink which contains a mixture of alcohol and medicinal herbs. It has been used for medicinal purposes since its creation back in 1541, by the Swiss physician Philippus Paracelsus. Its intended purpose was to relieve indigestion. The medicinal benefits of the Swedish bitter have kept this original elixir in existence for centuries.

How to Make Your Own Swedish Bitters

Step 1

Combine herbal ingredients with 1.5 liters of vodka in the 2-liter, wide-neck bottle.

Step 2

Leave the mixture in the sun for at least 14 days and shake the bottle daily.

Step 3

Strain the herbal liquid into smaller bottles for storage and keep cool.

Step 4

Shake before each use.
