For enterprising kids who wish to make some money selling lemonade, learning how to build a lemonade stand out of wood is the first step in a profitable business. With scrap lumber, some simple tools and adult supervision, you can make a quality, long-lasting lemonade stand in one afternoon.

Build a Lemonade Stand Out of Wood

Step 1

Cut two 3-foot lengths of 2-by-4-inch wooden board using an electric saw. Also, cut four 2-foot lengths and two 5-foot lengths of 2-by-4-inch board. Finally, cut four 4-foot lengths of 2-by-4-inch board. These pieces of wood will form the frame of the lemonade stand.

Step 2

Lay out two of the 2-foot boards and two of the 4-foot boards on the ground to form a rectangle. Nail them together at the corners. Make another rectangle of 2-by-4-foot boards in the exact same dimensions. Use two nails at each corner for maximum strength and stability.

Step 3

Nail the two 3-foot lengths of board to opposite ends of one of the 4-foot-long pieces of wood in a rectangle. Tip the structure on its side for easy access to the ends of the 3-foot board, and lean the other built rectangle structure up against it. Nail the rectangle to the other end of the 3-foot board.

Step 4

Repeat the above procedure on the other side of the rectangular shapes, but instead of using 3-foot boards, use the 5-foot-long 2-by-4-inch boards. You will end up with a rectangular box structure with two boards sticking up higher than the other side.

Step 5

Cut a 3-by-4-foot sheet of plywood, two 3-by-2-foot sheets of plywood, and one 2-by-4-foot sheet of plywood. Nail these to the corresponding sides of the lemonade stand. Cover the front, sides and top surface of the lemonade stand structure with plywood.

Step 6

Paint the entire lemonade stand if you desire. Let your kids design and paint a banner or sign on a piece of cloth or extra plywood advertising their lemonade and prices. Attach this to the 5-foot posts sticking up from the backside of the lemonade stand. The only thing left to do is make lemonade.
