Creating personalized works of art using transfers and canvas are inexpensive projects. Commercial canvas transfer sheets or professional processing is far pricier than this easy home craft alternative. A canvas transfer project made at home will cost less than $20. Home canvas transfer projects are typically limited in size due to printer parameters. Crafters can opt for a combination project, and have a photo enlarged at a local photo center, and purchase a matching canvas frame and still create a frugal piece of wall art.
Select photo, and print 8X10 inches in size on photo transfer paper. Use transfer or mirror image setting on the printer tool tray.
Lay cotton fabric on level work surface. Place canvas frame on top of cotton fabric. Canvas texture will show through when fabric is pulled and secured into place.
Cut cotton material three inches wider than the canvas frame on all sides.
Iron the photo transfer onto cotton fabric. Follow the transfer package instructions regarding heat settings.
Peel transfer backing after the film is cool to the touch. Center the transfer paper on the canvas frame.
Hold transfer in place, and flip the canvas frame so the backside is showing. Pull transfer snugly against the canvas frame, and fold fabric ends inward, like when wrapping a present.Staple ends to canvas frame.
