The American Cancer Society reports a number of different types of breast cancer, including carcinoma (the most common kind), sarcoma (rare), inflammatory breast cancer, triple-negative breast cancer and mixed tumors. Every year in October, charities ramp up for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but throughout the year, gifts are available for purchase with a percentage of the proceeds going to benefit breast cancer research, care facilities and post-operative service organizations.
Whether you suffer from breast cancer, know someone who does or just want to support the cause, consider a gift of comfortable, pink-ribbon-print pajamas. They come in a variety of styles, from warm flannel pants to T-shirts and sleep shorts and tank tops, each in shades of pink and white with inspirational messages. Sold by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, 25 percent of all pajama sales go directly to the charity.

The Pink Ribbon Store sells a variety of breast cancer awareness and recovery gifts, and every purchase sends a 5 percent to 30 percent donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since breast cancer therapy often results in hair loss, consider a gift of a breast cancer "Survivor" hat to bolster her spirits and image. Baseball caps are available in an array of colors, including black with an embroidered pink ribbon and the word "Survivor" proudly displayed. (Another version of the hat is available with just the pink ribbon for friends, family members and supporters.) For every hat sold, the Pink Ribbon Store donates 1 percent of the cost of a mammogram, a medical procedure vital to early breast cancer detection.

Sold by the Cancer Society store (and other retailers), a pill box is a way to show your support for a breast cancer patient and help her stay organized with her daily medications. (It's also handy for friends and family members who want to keep their vitamins, allergy pills or aspirin close by.) The box features a silver-toned holder with swirly pink decoration on the top and a silver ribbon decked out with pink Austrian crystals. Buyers may be interested to know that 100 percent of the proceeds of every store purchase go directly to the Cancer Society charity.
