While there are many types of instant stuffing on the market, this old world stuffing will out do them in flavor. Your family will agree that it's well worth the time.
Making The Stuffing
Remove bread from packages and place on table top overlapping pieces without completely covering them. Let dry overnight or 12 hours. Turn bread over and let sit for another 12 hours.
Place bread in large bowl and cover with water. Do not try to fit all the bread in if the bowl is not large enough, you can do this several times till all the bread is done. Once the bread is soggy wet, remove from the bowl of water squeezing thoroughly and setting to the side on a clean towel.
Place pork sausage in large frying pan and break apart. Fry for 15 minutes and drain excess grease. Add the pepper. onions, and celery and cook for an additional 1/2 hour. Remove from heat, draining any remaining grease and let cool.
Combine pork mixture and bread, mix and add a light sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix again then add another sprinkle of salt and pepper. Repeat one more time till thoroughly mixed.
Bake for one hour in 350 degree oven. When turkey is cooked you can stuff the cavity with dressing and serve.
