How to Make a Thanksgiving Turkey Brine

Have you ever eaten a dry-tasting turkey? If so, this is your lucky day. There are many different recipes one can use to make that turkey tender, as well as tricks like injections or adding butter under the skin. But the best way to tenderize while flavoring a turkey is to place it in a brine before cooking it.

Turkey Brine

Step 1

In a pot, boil the water and add the brown sugar, kosher salt and molasses.

Step 2

Add the sage.

Step 3

Add the poultry seasoning.

Step 4

Turn the heat off and stir everything for a few minutes or until all the sugar and salt is dissolved. Add the ice cubes to the liquid.

Step 5

After the liquid has cooled, pour it into a large ziplock bag along with the turkey and seal it. Keep it refrigerated for up to two days. Discard the brine when you're ready to cook the turkey.
