There are numerous simple ways of creating a warm, welcoming harvest ambiance this Thanksgiving season, and one of those ways is by decorating your Thanksgiving table with harvest-themed crafts. One such fun craft is making a corn-themed napkin rings with tissue paper. Read on to learn how.
Measure approximately 1½ inches horizontally from the left edge of a sheet of construction paper and make a small mark with the pencil. Measure another 1½ inches horizontally from the pencil mark
Use the pencil mark as a guide to draw a vertical, parallel line down the length of a sheet of construction paper, which is 1½ inches from the edge of the paper. Use the foot-long ruler to draw the line.
Repeat these two steps across the rest of the sheet of paper, measuring from the last line drawn, until it is split into columns 1½ inches wide. (See image)
Cut the paper into strips with the scissors, cutting along the drawn vertical lines. Cut each strip in half. Bend each strip of construction paper carefully into a "ring" shape, and glue the ends together. Spread some white crafting glue on the outer side of each ring of construction paper.
Spread out one sheet of tissue paper of each color on your workspace. Cut each sheet into one-inch squares.
Place one square section of tissue onto the table and position the eraser of the pencil in the center of the square tissue. Wrap the tissue up around the pencil, twisting it snugly against the pencil.
Press the wrapped end of the pencil onto the craft glue on the ring of construction paper. Lift the pencil from the wrapped tissue paper, leaving the tissue behind.
Continue the process of twisting one-inch squares of tissue paper around the eraser of the pencil and gluing each one onto the strip of construction paper. Position each piece of wrapped tissue as closely to the next as possible. Alternate and mix the three different colors of tissue.
Keep twisting and gluing the tissue paper until the entire surface of the ring of construction paper is covered with tissue paper twists. The glued-on tissue will begin to look like flower petals.
Allow the project to dry thoroughly before inserting a napkin for use. Repeat the above process for each additional one-half strip of construction paper.
