Valentine's Day is an important day for all couples, but for new couples experiencing their first Valentine's Day, it can be a very special day indeed. Celebrating a new romance can feel like a big step to a new couple, and it may seem like there are too many ideas or suggestions. The most important thing is to focus on the couple and their relationship.
Intimacy is Key
Valentine's Day is about celebrating each other and your relationship together, especially early in a relationship, so be sure to focus on that. Take the time to slow down and tell your partner why they are special and important. Fill a card with a list of the things you love about them. Volunteer for a favorite organization together. Don't pressure yourself to have the perfect Valentine's Day or the best day ever. Just appreciate the time to relax with your loved one.
Take a trip back to when you first met or your first date and recreate what it was that brought you together. Go to where it all started and remind each other of why you're together, what you value about each other, what makes you and your relationship special. Then, add something to the experience that you did not have before. Cap it off with a bottle of champagne at a special location, a romantic dessert or a visit to another place that is important to you as a couple.
In today's busy world it can be very difficult to take some time alone to really get away. Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse for this. Even if you're on a budget, you can get away by turning off your phones and computers and just spending a day with each other. Order or cook an exotic dish you've been meaning to try and create a make-believe tropical lagoon in your bathroom. Take a night even just a few miles away at a bed and breakfast can be incredibly relaxing and a great way to start a fun day together, if you have the funds.
