How to Remove a Color Wheel to Change a Fiber Optic Bulb

Fiber optic technology allows light to be transmitted through optical fibers, hence "fiber optics." Examples of these objects that utilize fiber optic technology are fiber optic Christmas trees and fiber optic dolls and figurines. Many of these include color wheels that cause the optic fibers to appear to change colors. In order to change a fiber optic bulb, you often must remove the color wheel first, which can be done with relative ease.

Step 1

Remove the casing to the fiber optic bulb by unscrewing it with a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 2

Position the flathead screwdriver under the edge of the color wheel and push upwards on it gently to pop it up out of the compartment where it covers the fiber optic bulb.

Step 3

Remove the color wheel so that you now have access to the fiber optic bulb in order to change it.

Tips and Warnings

  • Beware of damaging the color wheel when popping it up from the compartment; push gently in order to prevent damaging the wheel.
