How to Make a Popsicle Stick Reindeer Decoration

Popsicle stick reindeer make great Christmas ornaments, or they can be made into picture frame ornaments to add a personal touch to a special photo. The crafts are simple enough for children, who will have fun helping to decorate the Christmas tree with their new reindeer decorations.

Step 1

Paint all sides of the sticks with brown craft paint. These will form the reindeer head, which will be the main part of your decoration, so the entire surface of the sticks must be painted.

Step 2

Make a "V" shape with two sticks and glue them in place.

Step 3

Place another painted Popsicle stick across the other two, forming an upside down "A" shape, and glue that one in place as well. The small triangle formed by the sticks is the reindeer's face and the two pieces that are above the triangle are the antlers.

Step 4

Use hot glue to apply the two wiggly craft eyes to the face of the reindeer. Place one eye on one stick on each side of the reindeer's triangle face.

Step 5

Dab a dot of hot glue at the very bottom of the "V" shape formed by the Popsicle sticks and apply a red craft pom-pom or button for the reindeer's nose.

Step 6

Cut a family or personal picture into a triangle shape and glue it to the back of the reindeer's head so that it can be seen through the triangle of the reindeer's face. This is optional, and if you don't want to add a picture to your reindeer ornament, then you can skip this step.

Step 7

Tie a piece of ribbon or string or attach an ornament hook to the top of the reindeer so that you can hang it on a Christmas tree, wreath or garland around the home.

Tips and Warnings

  • Supervise young children when they are using a hot glue gun.
