How to Replace Lights on Mini Christmas Lights

Strings of miniature Christmas lights are a common decoration during the holiday season. These lights are hung on many Christmas trees and wrapped around stair banisters to bring color and light to Christmas decor. These small light bulbs will occasionally burn out from normal use and need to be replaced to avoid unlit sections of the Christmas light string.

Step 1

Plug the mini Christmas lights into an electric socket to identify the burnt-out light bulb. Unplug the lights to prevent the risk of electrical shock while replacing the bulb.

Step 2

Grasp the burnt-out bulb firmly and pull it straight up out of the light socket of the string of lights. If the light is broken, use pliers to gently remove the broken bulb and the base of the bulb from the socket.

Step 3

Push the base of a replacement bulb into the empty socket as far as it will go. Most mini Christmas light sets will contain several replacement bulbs.
