Many families like to take family portraits during the holiday season. Instead of a standard family portrait in a studio with a plain backdrop, you might want to get a little more creative and have fun. Your family and friends will enjoy the pictures and you will have memories that will last a lifetime.
This works if you have had a new baby join the family since your last Christmas. For safety reasons, make sure that your baby is old enough to sit unsupported for a few moments for this type of picture. Purchase or create a large Christmas box with a lid that has a pretty bow on it. Gather the family around the tree as though they are opening the box. Have one person holding the lid to the box and everyone looking at the "present." Sitting inside the box and peeking out from the top will be the baby.
Take a nice photo of the family around the Christmas tree. Allow enough room in the photo for additions to be inserted using photo editing software. Find images of some of your favorite cartoon holiday characters or actors from your favorite holiday movies and copy and paste them into your photo. Use your imagination and place them in the photo as though they are there to enjoy the holidays with you. The images you paste into the photo can be in color or in black and white. It is OK that everyone will be able to tell that you used a photo editing program; this is about holiday humor and not about convincing everyone that Ebenezer Scrooge was really in your living room.
Naughty or Nice
Purchase some red and green poster boards that you can cut into smaller signs. Write "Naughty" on some and "Nice" on the others with black marker. Make sure that there are enough signs for everyone in the family to have one. Decide who gets the "Naughty" signs and who gets the "Nice" signs and then hold them when the picture is taken. This looks very cute in front of a Christmas tree or a chimney with stockings hanging from it.
