The amount per acre is different for each type of grass seed and fertilizer. The package will indicate how many pounds per acre are required. For example, Kentucky bluegrass needs 1.5 to 2 pounds per acre whereas fescues require up to 6 pounds per acre, according to the University of Wisconsin Extension.
