Can You Harvest Pine Bark From a Tree Without Harming the Tree?

Damage will occur to a pine tree if the bark is harvested. If the section is less than 25 percent of the circumference of the trunk, the tree will usually heal, the North Carolina State University Extension says. But it is best to harvest bark only from dead pine trees.
